Should you tell a friend she lacks talent or keep quiet while she quits her day job?

Dear Faithmate Ethics Advisor,

A friend of mine is 33 and works as a legal secretary, but she says she hates it and wants to be an actress.  She’s been talking about it for a couple years and now she is thinking of quitting her job so she can work at night and try to go on auditions.  I try to be supportive of people following their dreams, but I recently went to see her in a play and she was not good at all (she didn’t have to audition for the play because it was VERY small).  What should I say when I see her this weekend?  Is it mean to be honest or worse to NOT be honest?

Men: How should you introduce someone you are dating…but not yet exclusive?

September 14, 2009 Ethics Advisor One Comment

Dear Faithmate Ethics Advisor,

How should you introduce someone you are dating who is not your girlfriend?  I have been on about 10 dates with a woman and we were at a concert and I had to introduce her.  I called her “my friend” and she got mad.

How can you solve the “sound vs. silence” dilemma when it comes to getting sleep?

September 10, 2009 Ethics Advisor No Comments

Dear Faithmate Ethics Advisor,

My husband and I have an ongoing fight.  He likes to watch TV in bed and stays up really late watching.  I can’t stand the TV being on and can’t get sound sleep with the noise (and, no, earplugs don’t work).  He says that he works really hard and watching TV in bed is the only way he can fall asleep.  But I’m the opposite!  Who is right?  Is one of us destined to be tired all the time?

Should you “get to know” a guy who’s dating someone else?

Dear Faithmate Ethics Advisor,

My question is this, if you meet someone who is dating someone else, should you get to know them, and see what God is going to do, or do you drop them like a bad habit?

How should you handle quarreling coworkers?

September 3, 2009 Ethics Advisor No Comments

Dear Faithmate Ethics Advisor,

I work at an advertising agency as an account manager and I absolutely love my job.  I am truly blessed to have been hired and even promoted in only two years.  One thing that makes me crazy though is that during meetings, my coworkers get into arguments and it takes up half the meeting.  It’s also uncomfortable for everyone else in the room.  Since I’m not the boss in charge, it’s not really my place to take major action.  But it really bugs me and makes me not want to come to work because there is so much to be done and the infighting really takes away from our progress on certain accounts.  Is there anything I can do?
