Men: How can you handle a housemate who’s always cold?

Dear Faithmate Ethics Advisor,

This might seem petty but I live with a roommate who is the chilliest brother I have ever met.  In the summer I sweat like mad and want the air conditioning on and in the winter he wants to turn the heat up so high I can’t stand it.  We get on great except for constant fights about the temperature.  What can we do and who should adjust?

As a Christian, what would you do and why?

Faithmate’s Ethics Advisor says…

Husbands and wives have been having this argument for ages—in this case, your roommate would be the stereotypical chilly woman.  Like anything else, this issue requires compromise when you are sharing space (see it as a practice period for marriage).  That said—unless you want to keep the place unreasonably cold—the person who is hot has the last word: A person who is cold can always put on another layer or bundle up in a blanket at night, but being unable to sleep (or breathe) because you are sweating is inescapable…not to mention, by some accounts, unhealthy.

Of course, this is just one opinion!  As a Christian, do you agree or disagree?  Post your comments below…
